Arctic Trucks has a long history of working with Rescue Services in Iceland. Iceland is a country that is rich on natural resources, tourism and just local adventurous people. Combined with the beautiful however rugged and ever changing nature rescue services play an important part in the local culture. Each year the rescue services perform tasks in modified cars that are impossible for any other vehicle. They have the rare ability to cover vast amounts of terrain quickly and at the same time go where only belt driven vehicles could work properly.
The Icelanders have a long history of adapting to one of the most hostile environments along with their equipment. In the beginning of the eighties the locals began experimenting with cars that could travel on top of the snow on the glaciers instead of “pushing” through it. A new era of off road driving was born thus necessitating service and rescue cars that could help vehicles operating in the natural resource industry as well as the growing tourism in the vast outback.
